Relationship Development Intervention® (RDI®)

 

Here’s how RDI® worked for one family.

Upon entering RDI®, a family had this dream for one year in the future: We imagine having a normal dinner. Our daughter is not screaming or threatening to tantrum every time her sibling manifests her presence in some way. The constant tension is gone. Everyone is at the table at the same time.

 

They also had this dream for 3-5 years in the future: We are away for the weekend in our family’s vacation home. Dad and our daughter with ASD are cooking dinner together while Mom and our other child relax with a book.

 

Within 10 months of doing the RDI® program, both these dreams were realized. Mealtime is pleasant for everyone, and the child and her sibling are now close and happy playmates. The family has taken weekend trips with success. Their child now shares memories spontaneously about her experiences. Her ability to communicate her thoughts, ideas, joys and fears has both empowered the parents and tremendously improved the family’s quality of life. The child has friends at school and loves to be with other children.
